Kashi Vishwanath Temple
One of the most visited temples in India, the Kashi Vishwanath lies on the western banks of the river Ganga. Home to the 12th Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva, this city finds mention in most Vedas and scriptures and once has gold spires, which is why it is also called the Golden temple. Rebuilt several times over the years, the existing edifice of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple was constructed in 1780 by Queen of Indore Ahilya Bai Holkar.
The most famous ghat in Varanasi is the Manikarnika Ghat. This is a place of cremation by the Hindus. If you are ready to experience with all boldness how it feels to see the continuous cremations taking place, this could be the place. Man Mandir Ghat is yet another Ghat in Varanasi and an old one too. The place is worth the visit if you love to view the architectural splendor of the Rajput in full form. Man Singh of Jaipur, the Rajput King, built a palace in this place in the year 1600. Sawai Jai Singh, the Second constructed an observatory here. If you have an eye for space, you will love the astronomical instruments here.
The seat of the monarchs of Varanasi for more than 400 years, the Ramnagar Fort lies on the eastern banks of the river Ganga just opposite the Tulsi Ghat. Built by Raja Balwant Singh in 1750, the ornamental swords, the Durbar hall that is now a museum, the palanquins and elephant howdahs are worth a look. The present Maharaja, Pelu Bhiru Singh lives in this fort even today.

Believed to be the place where Lord Brahma performed the Dasa Ashwamedh sacrifice. It is the centre for most rituals performed in Varanasi. The ghat is one of the places to visit in Varanasi for sure.
