Other features borrowed from the car world include a key fob and keyless ignition function. 20.Ampere Reo

The Ampere REO offers a compact, lightweight electric scooter which is not very expensive and is easy to ride. Being a low-speed electric scooter, it also doesn’t require any driving licence and is good for short runarounds. But its long charging time, and low top speed of 25 kmph are also hindrances to make it a practical, everyday electric scooter which can replace a conventional petrol-powered scooter for urban use. Ampere Vehicles is a Coimbatore-based electric vehicle manufacturer with a range of electric scooters. One of them is the Ampere Reo. It is priced at Rs. 61,999. The Ampere Reo feature a 250W brushless DC motor and are powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery pack. The Reo has a load hauling capacity of 120 kg. It has a range of 65-70 kilometres and can be fully charged within 5-6 hours. The scooter doesn’t need registration either as it can touch a top speed of only 25 kmph. Ampere Vehicles also has a new lithium-ion charger which is priced at Rs. 3,000. The charger has a two-stage profile which can change the voltage and the current level. The battery is also fitted with control and monitoring systems which can protect the battery from short-circuit, high temperature cut-off and reverse-polarity protection as well.
