7.HERO OCTANE SPRINGBOK
The MTB with a more recent version of Shimano Tourney derailleurs, which shifted smoothly without any lag. The flat handlebar and heavily treaded DSI Small Block 27.5” tires made it perfect for fast paced flat trail rides. The Hero Octane Springbok is built on a full alloy frame. The frame geometry was standard as in most hardtail MTB’s with a slanting top tube, which made for more standover clearance and a comfortable posture. The Spingbok has a stock coil spring suspension with a claimed travel of 100mm and during the test ride the suspension travel seemed to work easily up to 80mm which is good for a flat trail and urban MTB.

This MTB has a comfortable frame geometry and wide handlebar. The powerful Mechanical Disc brakes made it easy to stop on flat trails and urban roads. The Firefox Fusion D 29, like its 26” and 27.5” models is built on a full Steel frame. It might be a bit surprising to see a Steel frame instead of a Alloy on a MTB at this price but being an Urban MTB the weight difference will not affect riding efficiency. The frame geometry and build makes this bicycle capable of doing some rigorous riding on flat trails and on the worst of urban roads. Being a hardtail the Fusion D 29 comes with a Zoom entry-level suspension fork with a minimal 50mm travel. This minimal travel was nevertheless smooth in operation.
